The now iconic corporation famous for Scotch Tape, started in 1902 producing sandpaper, although not without difficulty. The company struggled with their products, manufacturing, and delivery. By 1910, things were looking up for the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company (officially changed to 3M in 2002).
Once 3M started rocking and rolling, the inventions just kept coming. They developed the world's first waterproof sand paper, followed by the immensely important masking tape. Over the past 100 years, 3M has been involved in several new discoveries and innovations from street lights to recording film.
Fun Fact: In the 1960s and 70s, 3M released a series of board games geared towards adults sold in department stores.
