BOSTITCH
In 1896 Thomas Briggs, founder of Bostitch, invented a machine that made wire fastening easier. He had mechanized processes such as book and calendar binding faster and easier. The Boston Wire Stitcher Company was born.
In 1914, Bostitch released their first desk stapler. Ten years later, in 1924, they released staples in a single strip, still standard today. Throughout the 20th century, Bostitch continued to innovate and lead the fastening market.
By 1986, Bostitch was acquired by Stanley Works.
Fun Fact: The brand name Bostitch was created in 1948 by simply shortening the name Boston Wire Stitcher Company.
