Kreg Tool Company was started in 1986 by a professional tool maker, Craig Sommerfeld, who wanted a more universally applicable jig. This led to his first successful product, "Craig's Jig", which he created on his own. Craig took the design and finished products to local woodworking shows, eventually realizing the demand for his jig was large enough that he could market it full-time. Kreg has served as a leader in innovation in the woodworking industry ever since, and is a leader in pocket-hole joinery.
Fun Fact: Through the creation of Craig’s Jig, the modern version of the pocket-hole technique was invented - a technique that dates back to the Egyptian Empire.
